We have been living beyond the sidewalks for over 18 years. Our little ‘A’ frame cabin sits on Tierra Sol Farm, near the west branch of the Feather River, in the Sierra foothills. Ten years ago, on a Mother’s Day morning, I scooped up some runaway ducklings and slipped and fell. In one swift move, I dislocated my ankle, shattered 3” of leg bone, shredded my tendons, and severed the nerves!

The Doctor was sure I’d have to use a cane the rest of my life and all he could suggest for the pain and swelling was cortisone shots. This seemed pretty bleak, but I wasn’t willing to settled for it, besides I have 30 acres to attend to!

I have been making salves for the family for years, from the herbs grown in our garden. So I started researching various herbs that would help heal my injuries. While formulating the cream I was introduced to hemp root. The chief element in restorative creams of early pharmacopoeia was hemp, the active ingredient essential to oils prescribed in both the Aramaic and Hebrew versions of the Old Testament. Hemp root, myrrh, and olive oil preparations were applied topically to alleviate swelling and joint pain, or as salves for burns. So I added it to the batch, making a 9 herb formula.

SF Cannabis Awareness Day May 12, 2009

We attended the SF Cannabis Awareness Day last Sunday. When you don’t live in a big city, you forget how seedy and depressing they can be, and the fact that it drizzled all day, didn’t help. But soon, booths and band-stand blossomed. Even though we were new on the scene, many welcomed us in. We were fortunate to be beside the most popular booth there, “Sweet Releaf”, with artistic flare, they made the best canna-chocolate Truffles, I’ve ever tasted. We were greeted by Tom the nurse, Moose and Richard Eastman. Ed Rosenthal and some of his staff. The speakers and music was good.
People did come, although many of the vendors said it was usually small.
We were a bit disappointed by the mind-set of some, who tried to eat the cream in hopes of getting high. But that was soon counterbalanced by many who already are Hemp-EaZe users. One man told me I need to add psoriasis on my list because the cream has helped him. We were interviewed a few times; Axis-of-love TV and a new magazine called greenkind plans to put an article about Hemp-EaZe in their next issue! A few collectives were interested and plan to get back with us.
We learned a harsh lesson about SF parking tickets.
But all-in-all we got out of there with some good hopes.
Funny thing, The last thing we packed up, I twisted my ankle, all the way home I moaned everytime I pressed the clutch. I limped into the house and rubbed the cream on, twice before going to bed. The next morning I jumped up and did the usual morning stuff, when an hour into it I remembered that pain, it was gone! Man, I love this cream!

It was 32 degrees this morning, started up the fire in the wood stove,still crackling from last night, Had a hot cup of Chia and Chocolate, and began to russle-up some breakfast. This year is interesting as we are down to taking care of two rabbits and an odd pair of ducks. In the past our coop was full of activity. Filled with chickens, our mascot turkey, rabbits, goats, pot bellied pig, many times our managerie would include a rescued animal such as a squirrel, fawn or injured bird. I imagine that it was more like a petting zoo than a farm, for they never had to fear the ax. Currently, most have lived out their lives in peace and then were lovingly buried in our little ‘cemetary’. Our 2 rabbits were a rescue and have provided me with excellent fertailizer. We aquired each duck seperately and last month one decided to lay for us, so today’s breakfast will included those little gifts. Next we’ll be setting up the outdoors for winter. Hopefully all these signs I have been seeing will mean that this one will be a good one and our draught will be over.

We have come to realize, while searching for a massage cream to ease our daily aches and pains, that all healing creams are not the same.
